Start with the port, not the ship
Yacht Club ships leave from Miami and Port Canaveral. Retreat ships leave from Port Everglades and Tampa. From Naples, Tampa and Port Everglades are the shorter drives with the easier terminals. If the sailing date is fixed and the drive matters, that alone often settles it.
Then the dinner test
Ask yourselves what you will remember from the week. If it is a beach day at a private island and a slide the grandchildren talked about for a month, the Yacht Club wins. If it is a plate of food and a glass of wine you still think about, Luminae on The Retreat wins. The suites themselves are closer than the marketing suggests.
