Comparison

Regent includes shore excursions and often flights, so it costs more up front and less by the end. Seabourn runs smaller ships with a yacht feel and charges for excursions. Both are all-suite. Kathryn has not sailed either and says so; she compares them on paper for every client who asks.

How Kathryn decides

Count your excursions before you count dollars

Regent includes unlimited shore excursions. Seabourn charges for each one. On a ten-night Caribbean sailing with a tour in most ports, the Regent fare can end up cheaper even when it starts higher. On a sea-day-heavy crossing with two ports, Seabourn usually wins on total cost.

Ship size is a feeling, not a number

Seven hundred guests on Regent still feels intimate. Four hundred and fifty on Seabourn feels like a private club. Couples who want to recognise faces by day three tend to pick Seabourn. Couples who want a bigger choice of restaurants and a proper theatre tend to pick Regent.

The marina changes the day at sea

Seabourn's fold-out marina opens on calm anchorage days for swimming, kayaking and paddle boards off the back of the ship. Regent has nothing like it. If the ocean itself is the point of the trip, that one feature can decide it.

Where Kathryn stands

She has not sailed either line and says so on both pages. She compares them on paper, fare against fare with every inclusion added, and she prices each against the suites she has stayed in so you can see what the extra money actually buys.
