Ask who else is on the ship
A ship-within-a-ship shares its hull with four to six thousand other guests. You have a private restaurant and pool, but the theatre, the shops and the promenade are shared and busy. An all-suite line carries a few hundred guests and every one of them booked a suite. Whether that sounds like a relief or a bore is the real question.
Ask how much you will do off the ship
All-suite lines are built around ports and often include excursions. Ship-within-a-ship programmes are built around the ship, with slides, shows and a private island. Families with children almost always get more from the second. Couples who plan every port day usually get more from the first.
Ask what the total actually is
A Yacht Club or Haven suite costs far less than an all-suite fare, but drinks outside the private area, speciality dining and gratuities add up. An all-suite fare looks high and then stays flat. Kathryn builds both totals before she recommends one.
